We have plans to come to the ND game on 9/12. We have flight, hotel, etc. we just need tickets. 4 of them. I was looking to see if any of you could lead me in the right direction. Last year I lucked out on Ebay with really good tickets for the Wisconsin game, great win! So if any of you could give me your best advice, Ebay, scalp, paper, what ever. Thanks.

Buying scalped tickets for the big games is probably not a great idea. They'll probably cost you around 200 bucks for ND and OSU, and about a hundred bucks for PSU. On the other hand, you could buy tickets, sell the other ones for ~280, and spend 150 for the best 3 games.

I have just been notified that I am eligible for Season tickets for 2009. I am from Hamilton, ON and could probably only make it to 2-3 games. Would it be worth buying the ticket package ($400), going to ND, PSU, and OSU, and trying to sell off the other games? Are tickets readily available at theses games or would I be better off just coming down day of and buying scalped tickets?
Thanks for any help.

I've heard he's leaning to Michigan, but nothing promising about a decision coming soon.

I'm not entirely positive on the disciplinary issues, other than the rumor that he was involved in the fight that injured the hockey player (MSU edition) that got one of his brothers kicked off the MSU team.

So, I'm hearing at this time Austin White is leaning towards Michigan and may even be committing sooner than later. He is the #16 RB to Scout, no rating from Rivals yet. Does anyone know the details of the alleged disciplinary action he had against him?

I have to imagine we are done with RB if we get him. We've fallen out of favor with Seastrunk and Lattimore, so I guess there isn't anyone else we should really hold out for.

The boys in Maize and Blue are on the BTN from Columbus tonight. How about a drinking game?

Commentary:

Drink if they call Fetter "Cheese". Drink for mentioning the walk-ons. Drink for McLouth's brother in MLB.

Game play:

Drink for an error. Drink for a strikeout. Drink when Fetter strikes someone out. Finish your drink if he hits a batter (pretty rare, but I think I've seen it once this year). What about base on balls (he only gave up one of those last week)? What about successful or unsuccessful steals?

It will be interesting to see where his rankings come out after his senior season.

The bigger question is how will RR and Staff handle having so many offers out and how does that approach affect recruiting and the perception of Michigan in the eyes of recruits.

Or as some people call it, walk-up music -- you know, the ten seconds or so of music that gets played as a player comes up to the plate. Last night, because she was trying to drag out bedtime, my kid was compiling a list of songs that Michigan players use. Because I'm that way, I'm posting what we can remember here.

#3 Crank -- "California Love" 2-Pac
#4 LaMarre -- "My Life Your Entertainment" T.I.
#6 Lorenz -- "Remember the Name" Fort Minor
#7 Dufek -- "Get the Funk Outta My Face" Brothers Johnson/"Layla" Clapton/some Led Zep song -- what's the deal with all the changing among songs as old as I am, anyway?
#15 Stephens -- "Imperial March" from Star Wars

I'm still a little dumbfounded about his sudden commitment to OkSt. I originally left him on the board for a while, because I was thinking his childhood favorite (Michigan) might have a chance to sneak back in on him. It's been a few days, and there's no sign of wavering. Quite the interesting situation.

To the best of my knowledge, the voluntary workouts are absolutely mandatory. I believe the players have been off since the final spring practice (a week ago Tuesday), and are left to their own devices at least until after exams. I'm not sure the date that they're supposed to start working out again, but it is definitely not optional. I know the incoming freshmen are expected to show up in Ann Arbor as soon as they have graduated from high school, and participate in the Bridge Program in the summer, in addition to the workouts.

As far as workouts, I think the coaching staff trusts Barwis to do what he does, and they don't really need to see the workouts themselves to monitor progress. I think during other (actually voluntary) things like QB-WR workouts, the coaches trust that the repetitions between the teammates is more beneficial than not fixing a bad habit would be.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were circumstances under which coaches could view such things (i.e. a limit on number of coaches or number of players at any given time). If it really came down to it, the NCAA can't really prevent the players from practicing on the football practice field. Is it the players' fault if RR's office just so happens to have a balcony that overlooks it?

I recall that under Carr, Henne generally went home during the summers. It made it appear that the workouts under Carr really were voluntary, where many programs seem to have summer workouts that are voluntary is title only. What percentage of the players on the team currently are expected to participate in summer workouts?

Also, I seem to recall that only the S&C coach can view the workouts, but are they filmed? Does the rest of the staff get to see what the players are doing? And what interaction is there between the staff (other than S&C) and the players? Enough to afford feedback on things taking place in the workouts? And with such a young team and assuming the staff has little interaction with the players, how likely is it that the players will be executing things incorrectly during workouts because they have no feedback from coaches?

He grew up an M fan, because his dad is an alum (and was actually a student equipment manager in the late 70s). This obviously gives Michigan a better chance than they otherwise would have.

HOWEVA, the buzz surrounding the Oklahoma State visit was very positive for the Cowboys (and therefore, obviously, bad for everyone else), so who knows. The word is that he'll take a while to make a final decision, so it's not worth getting worked up over quite yet.

Re: His ranking. He has awesome stats in high school, but plays in a lower Division (I believe 3A), so his level of competition isn't particularly high. Scouts most likely haven't had a chance to check him out in person and see if he's actually elite, or just a man among boys at his level.

Anyone have some thoughts about him? We are considered to have a good shot at him, but I heard he had a great time during a visit to Oklahoma State. Texas kids have been slippery for us because apparently it takes them a while to figure out that snow is cold.

Scout has him listed as a 3-star, but he also has offers from Notre Dame and Oklahoma.

That just seems like it wouldn't fly with the district and parents. It would be a pretty tough sell that he doesn't deserve to play, with the OMG Shirtless! and all, plus its not like the area down there would be buckeye supporter heavy, at least I wouldn't think so.

Well, he's clearly a little... off, so maybe "rational thought" isn't quite his thing.
