Fun Bullet Point Time, Hooray!

• Mike Hart stated a few fun things in a chat with ESPN.com people in EPSN’s retarded SportsNation things. Most interestingly, he stated that He (capitalized because He is a god) and Hene were coming back “because we’ve gotta beat O-State.” In the same interview-like ubstance, he said that the hardest hitter in the country is UM’s pwn Dave Harris (ed note: he is right).
• In the same interview-like substance-like material, Leon Hall said that the wolverine D was going to hit JDB hard in the Rose Bowl because “somebody’s got to pay for what happened.” In a related note, John David Booty officially hates Urban Meyer and Gary Danielson.
• Re: BCS mess (and yes, I can reply to my own post), all this confusion about the BCS, voting, etc. just goes to show that perhaps the best (or even only viable?) type of poll for college football would be one like the BlogPoll. Voters are held accountable for the way they vote, there is an intelligent proprietor, and GASP! people actually watch the games! Thinking about the virtues of BlogPoll really makes me want to participate next year.

The conventional wisdom is that Florida jumped Michigan in the human aspect of the BCS because voters didn’t want to see a rematch. This makes sense.

However, if that’s the case, then why did voters in the AP poll also move Florida ahead of Michigan, with the knowledge that what they did would have no effect on who would play in the national championship game?

Either Florida was legitimately impressive enough in the two weeks that they played and Michigan didn’t, or the lobbying by Urban Meyer, Gary Danielson, et al was enough to convince voters that maybe Florida was in fact the #2 team in the country, rather than Michigan.

Some of the explanations that voters in the Harris poll gave for their votes (lol h8 rematch lol) would seem to nullify this argument, but again, AP voters vote with knowledge that they have no effects on the BCS.

For a more accurate picture of WHY and HOW the tides turned in favor of Florida, it would be so much better to have the second-to-last week votes, rather than just the final week, for both Harris and Coaches Poll voters. Obviously enough people had Michigan ahead in the second to last week, but switched for the final poll only. Knowing which voters switched would be much more enlightening as to the motivations.

A case in point would be someone like Ron Zook. Did he have Florida ahead of Michigan in the penultimate coaches poll, and switch his vote to avoid a rematch (which would be retarded because it costs the conference, and therefore his school, money, but judging by his in-game coaching over the years, I wouldn’t be surprised if he actually was mentally handicapped), or did he have Florida ahead both weeks because of his allegiance to his ex-players.

Just throwing some thoughts out there. Of course, the AP vote was much closer than either the Hrris or Coaches Polls the last two weeks (3 points as opposed to 38 and 26 points, respectively), but there still must be some sort of explanation.

Some observations:

* The majority of OSU people actually weren’t that bad, aside from saying “fuck you, faggot” whenever they saw someone in a Michigan shirt
* The fans who were actually bad, were very, very bad.
* I only got one thing thrown at me, and it hilariously missed and hit my cousin (In her Ginn jersey) in the back of the head. She will be the first to tell you that “the back of the head” is not your first choice of where to get hit by an unopened beer.
* I was actually embarrassed for most of the students that tried to make fun of me. I had been unaware that “faggot” was still used as an insult outside of maybe backwater Alabama or someplace.
* Ross Homan is an OK guy.
* ESPN needs to do something about regulating the number of signs at GameDay. It has gotten absolutely out of control, ruining whatever it was that made the idea so cool in the first place.

I have the misfortune to be in a place where an event as sad as this is actually celebrated. Hopefully the team will want to win one for Bo, and to strike back at the OSU fans who find this tragic passing humorous.
